My
Background and Places I have Seen.
I was born and raised in Alabama, joined the US Marine Corps upon graduation from high school at age 17. At the end of my three year enlistment, I attended Auburn University and took up flying with an eye toward that as a future profession. I chose aviation as my life time career when hired by Pan American World Airways in 1966. My career with Pan Am spanned 26 years until the airline ceased operations in 1991. During this wonderful era of aviation history, I was based in Hong Kong, Miami, New York, Berlin Germany, Portland, Salt Lake City and Toulouse France. The role of an international airline captain takes one to every conceivable destination in the world. Indeed, there were very few countries I did not visit, plus living abroad for 28 years of my career enabled a tremendous knowledge of many exotic places on our planet.
Why the Flathead Valley, Montana?
When the glory days of Pan Am ceased, I continued flying with Delta Airlines for an additional 12 years until my retirement in 2000. I had discovered the Flathead Valley some 30 years before on an elk hunting trip to Montana and instantly fell in love with the grandeur of the mountains and lakes and the pristine glow that one can only feel in this very special place. I knew some day this would be home. Now, after establishing a second career in real estate, I am more convinced than ever that this is the greatest location in the USA for beauty, nature and wonderful people. After all, I could have chosen any spot on earth to live and I picked the Flathead Valley.
